The show celebrates the artistic voices of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from the DMV and Baltimore. Spanning various media and subjects, Translation Through Art aims to foster community among both artists and visitors, spark meaningful conversations, and reveal moments of connection, healing, levity, and growth. Show was curated by Emon Surakitkoson.
The concept of “pareidolia” is the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. The intertwined peacock imagery being visualized through this concept is the Artists’ way of writing a love letter to her Indian-Asian American identity. Artist hand cut all the elements and patterns to depict the full peacock image.
